'Areas covered by the Association are generally south-east Dorset and south-west Hampshire. This includes Poole, Bournemouth and The New Forest. Part of the Association’s objectives are "to advance the education of the public in the study of the art of music with special reference to liturgical and organ music". A meeting is held on most months during the year, ranging from arranged talks, visits to local organs, an annual full day outing to a major venue and an Annual Dinner. In recent years, we have been pleased to enjoy trips abroad.'

Founded 1990: ‘We’re a community concert band and perform across Dorset including Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne and Ferndown. We’re one of the area’s largest concert bands with around 50 musicians of all ages, playing wind band instruments of all shapes and sizes ... We love seeing new faces in the band. To join, you’ll need to be 14 years or over and play a wind instrument or drums/percussion. We don’t ask for a specific grade but we recommend you’re around Grade 5 or equivalent and ideally you’ll have some band experience’.

Founded 1947: ‘In the early part of the year we rehearse for our Spring Show, usually performed in April and May. We perform our Spring Show in several surrounding theatres, usually featuring popular numbers from many G&S operas. We also on occasion include some non G&S numbers too. Our main production each year is always at the end of October and takes place in the theatre of Poole’s Lighthouse’.

‘The band has been part of Ringwood's life since 1879. In 1978 the band amalgamated with the Burley Band which started life around two years after the Ringwood Band ... The Band is well known in the New Forest/Wessex area and is a member of the Wessex Brass Band Association. Although it does take part in contests, the Ringwood & Burley Band is primarily a concert band playing an average of 30 engagements per year.’

‘We are an a cappella vocal group whose motto is “Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Excellent" ... Although the choir is the largest part of Wavelength we also have other smaller groups such as quartets and octets but in all cases our aim is to make great music together. Our repertoire will consist of popular songs from across the years, from Adele to Irving Berlin, Ella Fitzgerald to Tears for Fears and perhaps a little bit of classical, we hope to have something for everyone.’

‘The Westbourne Orchestral Society, average strength 50 instrumentalists, was formed in 1930 and has given regular concerts ever since, even during the war, when it gave 248 concerts for troops stationed in Bournemouth ... Westbourne Orchestra has run its Concerto Competition every year since 2009 (apart from in 2015) and alternates each year between Youth/U21 Competition and the Adult/21+ Competition.’

‘The Bournemouth Pavilion and Ballroom is Bournemouth’s stunning Art Deco theatre providing year-round entertainment for everyone. The 1920s venue has retained its splendour and elegant style and is Bournemouth’s regular home for West End stage shows, Opera, Ballet, Pantomime and Comedy ... Our Compton Pipe Organ was built & installed in the Grade 2 listed Pavilion Theatre in 1929. The Compton Organ is still played today.’

The St Stephen’s May Festival is ‘an annual celebration of music within the context of worship to be held here at St Stephen’s. We welcome many music lovers and many performers who join with us for these three glorious days’. Festival held Early May. The Church also organise a series of organ and other recitals throughout the year, usually held on Saturday mornings.
