‘Based in Bushey, Hertfordshire ... The oldest and, arguably, the most celebrated of the UK’s specialist music schools, The Purcell School was originally founded in central London in 1962 ... Though it is now a coeducational independent boarding and day school for around 180 girls and boys, The Purcell’s pupils are nonetheless largely funded by the government’s Specialist Music and Dance Scheme ... The School puts on over 150 performances each year ... We regularly welcome eminent musicians to the School to give masterclasses and recitals throughout the year ... and host a variety of music courses during term time and in the School holidays.’
