Founded 1962: ‘New comers are always welcome and there is no voice test or other selection procedure. You can just come along to see if you like it for a few weeks before joining. It is useful but not essential that you know the section (Tenor1, Tenor2, Bass1, Bass2) but this can be determined during your first few sessions. Most newcomers have not sung for many years and are not welsh speaking. Yes! We do sing some songs in Welsh but most non-welsh speaking members manage this after a period of time‘.

'Sadly, just before the outbreak of the Second World War the band’s fortunes took a turn for the worse and it disbanded. Gone but not forgotten, decades later in 1972 a group of local enthusiasts held a meeting with the aim of re-establishing the band. Old instruments and a library of music were discovered, and these, together with some new purchases, a place to rehearse and a keen group of volunteers, sowed the seeds of the band’s renaissance ...'

‘The Band has some 50 members ranging in age from early teens to early eighties many of whom have been with the band for several years. They travel from a wide geographical area including Fishguard, Cardigan and Llanelli and their commitment is demonstrated by the fact that they travel to rehearsals every Sunday evening ... As a community based band they play for their own enjoyment but they also thrive on challenges of performing at more formal concerts and events. As befitting a band comprising of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments their repertoire is wide and varied consisting of classical pieces through to music from the shows, film themes, military marches and popular music.'
