Aims are 'to promote all aspects of the arts through an annual programme of events at various venues in Carmarthen; to attract members of the general public to these events and increase awareness of the arts in Carmarthen'.

The Group consists of parents and friends of pupils that are involved in the ensembles of Carmarthenshire Music Service. 'A friendly competing band based in South Wales ... Brass bands continue to have a loyal fan base in the UK and Wales is proud to produce some of the best bands in the world. To make sure that we continue to develop future players for the band, Ammanford work hard with the young players in the Junior Band.'

'Sadly, just before the outbreak of the Second World War the band’s fortunes took a turn for the worse and it disbanded. Gone but not forgotten, decades later in 1972 a group of local enthusiasts held a meeting with the aim of re-establishing the band. Old instruments and a library of music were discovered, and these, together with some new purchases, a place to rehearse and a keen group of volunteers, sowed the seeds of the band’s renaissance ...'

 

‘A community choir based in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire ... Choir membership has now grown to over sixty. New singers are welcome in all sections − soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. There are no auditions. You just have to enjoy singing and want to learn. Vocal training takes place at some rehearsals.‘

 

Category Community Choirs

Carmarthen Male Voice Choir has been an integral part of the music scene in Carmarthen and surronding area for over 50 years. The choristers, the majority of whom have Welsh as their first language, are amateurs. They all love to sing.‘

 

'Our fabulous choristers are boys and girls aged from 7 to 16 years who come Llanelli, South Wales and surrounding areas ... After hearing the choir, you'd never believe it that the choir prides itself on no auditions! There are no musical or educational prerequisites to join the choir - except the willingness to learn and a love of singing! ... We perform an exciting and varied repertoire of music to suit all types of performances and broadcasts. The current repertoire includes magical moments from the world of classical music, musical theatre, pop and international folk, sacred and Christmas works - performed in English, Welsh, German, Latin, Hebrew ...'

'Based in the village of Tŷcroes near Ammanford in the county of Carmarthenshire. The word “Persain" is Welsh for “pure sound” - we are ever optimistic! The Choir is available to sing anywhere and for all occasions, having a varied repertoire for formal concerts as well as weddings, festivals and informal musical evenings in smaller venues.'
