Founded in 1953 as The Wheatsheaf Players, the name was soon changed to Enfield Light Operatic and Dramatic Society and from performing mostly Gilbert and Sullivan in the 50's and 60's, the society soon took on the challenge of producing more modern musicals and this has continued to the present day. There are four different choirs and the age range of the children is from four to eighteen. The Beginners and Intermediates choirs are open to all. In order to enter into the Senior and Chamber choirs, it is necessary to audition. Children may join FCMG at any time – it is not essential to have passed through the early stages of FCMG in order to audition for the Senior Choir.’

‘A large open-access woodwind ensemble, which aims to give intermediate adult players the experience of playing in a larger ensemble and at the same time improving intonation, sight-reading and ensemble skills. The Band now comprises about 45 regular players and there are also many opportunities for playing in chamber groups. The band takes its name from Alexandra Palace in North London, which is adjacent to the Community Centre where the band rehearses, on alternate Sunday mornings. There are no auditions, and the band has a relaxed and open ethos. The music is arranged in a four-part flexible format, which gives a choice of parts for the flutes and clarinets. There are parts for B flat soprano, alto and bass clarinets, all four saxophones and French horn. The more advanced and adventurous players also have the opportunity to play concerto movements occasionally.’
