‘Over many years Côr Dyfed Choir has gained a reputation as one of the leading choirs in West Wales, attracting both singers and audiences from a wide geographical area. The choir’s repertoire includes pieces from the Renaissance, early baroque period, such as those by Monteverdi and Lassus, through to more recent times with works by Rachmaninoff, Duruflé and Poulenc. Bach, Handel and Mozart are probably the choir’s best loved composers and their works are often performed in the choir’s concerts ... In recent years the choir has built a close relationship with St Davids Cathedral.’

‘First formed in 1950 with its first production of H.M.S. Pinafore. The society has performed in many venues over the years. The Empire Cinema, Central Hall, The Masonic hall, The Astoria, The Grammar School, and The Petroleum Club. The Torch Theatre has been our home for the last 37 years, where we have enjoyed the professional facilities which have enabled us to produce technically sophisticated shows. The Society is proud that it was the first amateur society to tread the boards there. We also perform summer concerts, host quiz nights and sing carols and Christmas songs to raise funds for the Society throughout the year.’

‘The choristers ... have a busy practice and concert schedule which is often booked 12-18 months ahead. The choir also has commitments to associations of which it is a member, namely the Welsh Association of Male Voice Choirs, Ty Cerdd and The National Association of Choirs. Bi-annual visits to the Albert Hall for the Massed Voices concert are just one of the major commitments. A wide repertoire allows Choir programmes to be tailored by the conductor to match the venue and audience. Places of worship, village halls, town halls and major concert halls are examples of performance venues requiring differing programmes.’
