'The UK's most northerly folk festival, it is regarded as a prestigious event for performers, locals and visitors alike. Organised by a voluntary committee (and run by an even bigger pool of volunteers) the Festival prides itself in reaching out to even the most far flung areas of Shetland. Concerts are organised throughout the Isles, consisting of some of the best International, British and Shetland music that the world has to offer. In fact, visiting artistes are regularly dumbfounded by the quantity and quality of local musicians that our remote isles have to offer.' Held Early May.

‘Shetland Arts' Fiddle Frenzy is a fiddle school focused on teaching the unique fiddle traditions of our islands, and to enable visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in Shetland culture and lifestyle. Around the daily classes, we programme nightly concerts to showcase our local artists, and a festival club to experience a Shetland session. Not forgetting the site seeing tours of course.’ Held Mid JulyALERT ‘After taking a break for 2018, Fiddle Frenzy has been developed into Folk Frenzy, still with a significant fiddle focus but broadening the festival out to include other aspects of folk music and explore how the Shetland Fiddle tradition fits in with the rest of the traditional music scene elsewhere in the world.’
