'Set up in 2000 with aims and objectives: * to promote live music through the presentation of public performances; * to advance the education of the public in the arts and in particular music; * to provide opportunities for young musicians to perform in front of a live audience.'

 

'Aim to contribute to the local society of West Lothian and also the wider brass band community. We give a number of concerts throughout the year including community events in Broxburn and Livingston and concerts in the wider Lothian region, and further afield.'

 

'One of very few civilian bands in Scotland which has a military configuration, in that it includes reed, brass and percussion instruments. We undertake a wide variety of marching jobs across central Scotland and have two concerts a year in March/April and December. We have also undertaken a number of other jobs to help local and national charities raise money.'

 

Founded 1991: ‘The choir’s original raison d’être was to reciprocate rugby choral hospitality by entertaining visiting rugby teams and supporters during their visits to Murrayfield for international matches. Over the years our scope has extended vastly and we are now very active both locally and much further afield, supporting many local and national institutions and charities.’

 

‘Formed in May 2016 by a group of local musicians keen to establish a community orchestra for the Linlithgow area ... Membership of the Linlithgow String Orchestra is open to string players aged 18+, of Grade 5 standard and above - new members are always welcome!‘

‘The Band was formed in 1987 with an emphasis on concerts as the name suggests. “Newland” was taken from the venue where the first rehearsal took place: i.e.The Old Academy in Bathgate whose benefactor was John Newland ... New members of all abilities are always welcome and instruments may be available if you don't have your own ... The Junior Band offers young brass players an opportunity to play as part of a band and meet young musicians from other schools ... The Junior Band play in concerts alongside the senior band.’

 

 

Toccata Ladies Choir has been an active part of the West Lothian culture scene since 1978 ... The choir consists of almost 50 members of all ages and musical abilities, brought together by their love and passion for singing and performing ... Their extensive repertoire covers a broad spectrum, encompassing classical and jazz as well as pop and musical theatre. They perform accompanied pieces and a cappella with equal skill and have enjoyed singing in Latin, Gaelic, Russian, French, German and Zulu as well as English.’
