'For singers, organists and choir directors ... Rich and varied programme, which will feature lunchtime and evening concerts, services, and teaching and workshop sessions ... Charles Wood, musician and composer, was born at 11 Vicars' Hill, Armagh in 1866 and received his early musical education as a chorister in the cathedral opposite his home. He later studied at the Royal College of Music and became a Professor there before succeeding Stanford, that other fine Irish musician and composer, as Professor of Music at Cambridge University.' Held Late August.
‘Competition for organists aged 21 and under. The Competition offers substantial monetary prizes, prestigious recital opportunities and masterclasses with leading organists across the globe. We created the competition to discover great young talent and give them a platform to show everyone what they can do. Founded in 2011 our competition continues to grow year on year as we attract top organists from the UK & Ireland and beyond.’ Held Late August.
‘From a Festival of forty-one classes in the Music section initiated by Dr Winifred E Hadden in 1922 it has grown to a total of 510 classes devoted to the present five different sections namely; Music, Speech, Drama, Irish Folk Dancing, and Dance.’ Held Late April.
‘NYCNI, previously know as Ulster Youth Choir was established in 1999 by Christopher Bell and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Since then the organisation has expanded its activity establishing the Training Choir as well as providing choral workshops province wide and offering training opportunities for schools, teachers and extended vocal training for existing members. NYCNI has performed across Northern Ireland and beyond.’
