'Formed in 1962 as The Ashbeian Gilbert and Sullivan Society. This adult society grew out of the Ashby Boys Grammar School G&S Society.This new society annually performed G&S, opera and operetta until 1993 when the first of the "modern" musicals was performed. Since then as the Ashbeian Operatic Society and recently as the Ashbeian Musical Theatre Group,we have continued to perform annually this genre of musical entertainment.'

The band is now one of the best Glenn Miller/1940s tribute bands in the country, with many players living in the Ashby area but also players coming from as far afield as Birmingham, Northampton and Chesterfield.'
