‘Community focused, family friendly musical extravaganza ... Every year, 2,000 people arrive at Rookery Meadow knowing they are going to have a weekend to remember – full of fun, local fayre and some amazing acts ... Over two glorious summer days, music combines with the community to create a very special kind of magic, and we would like you to become a part of it. For us, it started with a simple goal that remains true today – we want to bring people to Reepham, showcase wonderful music, and donate the profits to local charities. We believe it’s the purity of our aims, and the fact this is a non-profit event, that has lifted the Reepham Festival to even greater success than we ever imagined.’ Held Early August.
‘Cawston & District Silver Prize Band, to give them their original title, were formed in 1886 in the village of Cawston 11 miles north of Norwich ... Cawston Band prides itself on its reputation for versitility and quality. The band competes nationally on a regular basis, whilst also maintaining a very high level of concert performance. The Cawston Band can provide a full band for any event, but also small or large ensembles for weddings.’
‘Formed in 1959 based in Wroxham, Norfolk, UK and has concentrated mainly on the annual Spring production of a Gilbert and Sullivan opera. Over these years, all the operas have been performed at least once (Utopia Ltd and The Grand Duke) with The Gondoliers having been produced seven times. The exception is, of course, Thespis, where most of the original material has been lost ... The Society's constitution does not dictate that the Gilbert and Sullivan operas should be performed exclusively and so, in addition to the Savoy Operas, Merrie England and Die Fledermaus have also been performed.‘
‘A full SATB choir with a membership of around 35 men and women ... based in Reepham Norfolk ... formed in 2007 ... The aim of the choir is to enjoy singing and to strive to achieve the highest standard we can. Rehearsing and performing encourages togetherness and brings the opportunity of a new learning experience for all. Each member of the choir is an important part of the whole; our combined commitment to singing ensures our continuous improvement ... The Iceni Choir is always open to new members, especially Altos and Tenors.’
‘A traditional-style brass band based in Neatishead, Norfolk, with a far from traditional repertoire ... Norfolk Wherry Brass was formed in 2004 by a group of musicians from across East Anglia. The band is located ... at one of the most unique, eco-friendly and state-of-the-art village halls in Great Britain, the New Victory Hall. We welcome any brass and percussion players of all ages and abilities. If you'd like to come along for a blow, bang or listen you can find us most Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7.30pm.’
‘The Band was formed in November 1974 by a small group of villagers who were keen to start a brass band. With donations of monies and loans by founder members, the Band was able to purchase a set of instruments, from the folded Stibbard Band, to start its playing history. With money raised over the years, these old tattered instruments were replaced one by one and a music library of more than 800 pieces compiled ... Taverham Band is a great group of people who really enjoy entertaining their public. But more than just being a group of musicians they have a great social life and spend a lot of time together outside of the rehearsal room and concert venue. Perhaps that’s why they are so popular and successful!
