'Amateur theatre company which performs musicals and concerts in Belper ... Most of our main productions are performed at Belper School in their Theatre Hall which had a massive facelift back in 2011. We are also delighted to be able to perform smaller concerts throughout the year at other venues, as a form of fundraising. We perform two main productions each year. These are our main show in February and a Concert later in the year ... Belper Musical Theatre was founded in 1975 by local residents who were keen on Amateur Theatre, but who did not want to have to travel to Derby to fulfil their ambitions.'

‘An experienced chamber choir of about twenty-five voices ... Our current repertoire includes both sacred and secular works, mostly sung unaccompanied or with organ, but occasionally with a small orchestral ensemble.’

‘Formed in 1987 from the white dust of a limestone quarry that is Middleton by Wirksworth, the Dalesmen have grown from a few like-minded friends to a near 70 strong choir. Their original aims of bringing the enjoyment of choral music to the wider public and of supporting charitable institutions are still very much what the choir is about. Each year we take part in over 12 concerts in venues ranging from modest village halls to grand concert halls, and in the process we entertain many hundreds of people and over the years have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity.’

‘A widely popular, entertaining and award winning “Championship Section” musical ensemble, equally at home in all venues from private functions to large concert halls. The Band regularly perform to local capacity audiences and have represented Derbyshire in both concerts and contests further afield in the UK and internationally ... Though initially from Derby City, Derwent Brass have established their roots as a non-for-profit organisation in Belper where they have formed very close relationships with both the “Strutts Community Project” and Belper Town Council.’

We perform about a dozen concerts each year ... The youngest member of the band was born at around the time the oldest member retired so when we say all ages welcome we mean it! Playing in a band is an excellent way for all members of a family to join in an activity on an equal footing. Some parents have decided to take up an instrument for the first time so as to share an interest with their children. It certainly beats providing the normal parent’s taxi service. The band offers a change from the school teaching environment for younger players. The enthusiasm and light heartedness of the youngsters keeps the adults from taking themselves too seriously. If you’re still unsure then come along and see what it’s like, we’re a friendly bunch so come and join us!’
