Established in 1979: ‘It is a blend of professional players, instrumental teachers and talented amateurs from across South Wales and the Marches. They come together for four concerts a year, usually in Brecon but sometimes in other venues. The Orchestra is run by a committee of its members.There is an active social and fund raising group, the "Friends of Brecknock Sinfonia", which supports the Orchestra financially, and helps to raise its profile’.

‘A community based wind band that was formed in 1967. The current band comprises about 55 musicians of all age ranges and abilities who enjoy making music together. All woodwind, brass and percussion players are welcome to join the Band ... The Band performs between 15 and 25 engagements each year and regularly performs at Brecon; Llanigon; and Sennybridge Shows; the Victorian Festival, Llandrindod Wells. Most of the music we perform outdoors has a strong rhythmic beat. The Band regularly performs carols in Bethel Square, Brecon in the weeks before Christmas.’
