'Fosters and promotes artistic and cultural activities in the Borough. It acts as a co-ordinating body between the many arts groups in the area and the local authority. Membership represents all branches of the arts: music, drama, visual arts, crafts, heritage, writing and poetry, and a large number of associate members whose individual support is much valued.'
‘Members and visitors are invited to enjoy being entertained musically, whether they can play or just like to listen: probably only 25 per cent of our members/visitors own or play an instrument. All our concerts are “live” and played usually by artistes who are on the national entertainment circuit, also in the top echelons of their profession. We do encourage and give opportunity to newly emerging players who, as we have found, give excellent performances ... With different artistes ... with their own personal style, presentation and wide musical repertoire, plus their own organ/piano/keyboard and associated equipment, which put together, make each concert unique.’
‘BCS as the name suggests, specialises in choral music interspersed with lighter programmes. The choir produces both a Winter and Summer concert and together with other local choirs, participates in more formal concerts two or three times a year ... Ours is a group that makes all newcomers welcome and involves them in our activities. Being able to read music is an advantage but it is possible with some practice, to pick up the basics as we proceed. What we do ask is that our members share our enthusiasm for singing, attend as many rehearsals as possible and do some preparation between meetings.‘
'We are a group of seven orchestras of varying ages and abilities, linked by our love of music and how much we enjoy playing together. Our mission is to advance the musical education of young people in Brentwood and surrounding areas by the provision of training in orchestral playing and the presentation of public concerts. We are very welcoming and are always on the look out for new members, so if you are interested in joining one of our orchestras, then please contact us ...'
‘Brentwood Philharmonic is Brentwood's community orchestra and plays an exciting and varied repertoire. New players of a high standard are always welcome.’
‘Established in 1967 and is the largest choral society in Brentwood and, with 120 singers, one of the leading choirs in South Essex ... We generally perform 4 major concerts a year with professional orchestra and soloists as well as a concert of lighter music. The society’s membership is drawn mainly from the Brentwood area but some singers travel from a much wider area, drawn by our high standards and the reputation of the choir ... We actively seek to encourage young people to become members.’

'A long-established mixed chamber choir of some 18 voices, based in Ingrave, Brentwood, Essex. All singing is a cappella, and the choir have a very varied repertoire from which to choose programmes. Times & Seasons‘ “mission statement” is to try to identify with its audiences in an informal atmosphere, to provide something for all musical tastes and to convey its members’ obvious joy of singing.'
’The Cathedral hosts a popular series of Lunchtime Concerts; our Programme is varied including regular Organ Recitals, especially by students from the Royal College of Music, London. In addition, we welcome performances from soloists and ensembles, both instrumental and vocal. Our recitals provide a wonderful opportunity to listen to beautiful music in splendid surroundings and to enjoy refreshments afterwards in the Song School.’
