‘Everyone has a different Folk Week – ask 50 people what is their favourite part of the festival and they will each tell you something completely different! Whether you are family looking for child-friendly events, younger generation wanting to burn off some dance energy or singers and musicians seeking out a session – Folk Week has something for you. The festival takes place all over the town and there’s hardly a venue that isn’t bursting with song, music and dance. All venues are within walking distance – although we admit that getting down the hill to the sea is easier than getting back up!' Held Mid August.

'The Band was formed in 1980. Many musicians have come and gone over the years, young people moving on to the Services, University or new Careers; some of our older members retiring and others we sadly lost. We are made up of members of all ages 15-85 who are Ex-Professional or Amateur musicians ... We perform regular concerts at the Pavilion-On-Sands, Viking Bay, Broadstairs, a wonderful venue and setting for a Sunday night concert of popular music from films/shows and a pot pourri of incidental music.'

‘A mixed choral group of around 100 amateur singers. Based in the Isle of Thanet, East Kent, we regularly perform concerts to bring our music to the wider community. Although we do perform the occasional lighter concert, which might be Opera Choruses, Gilbert and Sullivan or Songs from the Shows, we tend to stick to traditional Choral Music (Messiah, Creation and Fauré Requiem amongst many others).’

‘Comprises a mix of amateur, semi-pro and professional players, who enjoy a wide repertoire of classical and light music, ranging from baroque concerti to "songs from the shows" - our library contains over 1000 items. At present it tends to put on 3-4 concerts per year ...  It is almost always looking for new members, on almost any instrument, but strings are particularly welcome. Those unable to commit to weekly rehearsals ... are also welcome to join us on an “occasional” basis. We enjoy working with young players, either those wanting to gain experience in orchestral playing, or those seeking to play a solo piece with the orchestra (a movement from a concerto, for example).’
