'Originally formed to sing a cappella music from the 16th and 17th centuries, both sacred and secular, the choir has extended its repertoire to include a wide range of works, accompanied and unaccompanied, from the late mediaeval period to the 21st century. With over 20 singers, the choir has recorded four CDs, made a number of TV appearances and besides singing in its local area, in particular Waltham Abbey, has toured in Paris (Notre-Dame and Sacré-Coeur), Tuscany (Florence and Pistoia), Budapest, Barcelona, Krakow and Edinburgh.'

'We sing a wide variety of music, including popular songs, hymns, old favourites, songs from the shows, songs from the world of opera, and traditional male voice choir items. There are regular monthly concerts for charitable purposes and we have an active social programme which includes wives and girlfriends.'

 

'Waltham Abbey has a rich musical heritage dating back to the foundation of the monastery. One of England’s most famous composers, Thomas Tallis, was a young organist here when the foundation was dissolved. More recently it was the church where William Cummings adapted Mendelssohn’s music to fit the words of Charles Wesley’s Hark! The herald angels sing ... There are numerous concerts and recitals at the church. "Music for Lunch" is presented on many Saturdays through the year and is free of charge. Other concerts are given from time to time by the choir and the choristers, and the church also serves as a venue for other organisations seeking a wonderful place to make music.’ The organ now comprises a combination of a 1953 Walker instrument and a 2019 re-design, repair and rebuild by Mander Organs.
