'Our working definition of "chamber music" is music from the 17th century onwards played by a combination of conductorless instrumentalists ranging from solo recitalist to up to 13 players, each following their own solo parts. Our commonest line-ups tend to be solo piano, piano/instrumental duos, trios and quartets, with string quartets being a consistently popular grouping.'

'The Festival is co-produced by Derby LIVE and PR Promotions and used to take place throughout every bit of space that the Assembly Rooms had to offer. With that venue out of action, we had to move outside, putting the main concerts into The City Marquee on the Market Place. Other concerts will be happening in Derby LIVE’s Guildhall Theatre, The Old Bell Hotel on Sadler Gate and Derby Cathedral. Added into that will be Folk Club events, a full fringe music programme (with free concerts for everyone including non-ticket holders), sessions, dance displays, workshops, craft stalls and a great atmosphere throughout the weekend.' Held Early October.

‘Founded as “The Derby Light Orchestra” in 1949 ... the orchestra originally concentrated on “light classical” repertoire. Performance standards were initially high and the orchestra continues in this tradition ... With time, the name and characteristics of the orchestra changed as it matured and grew. Now the entire orchestral repertoire is played, from smaller scale baroque performance to the mightiest symphonic works ... We often invite new and emerging singers and instrumentalists to perform, usually leading to some extraordinarily exciting and memorable concerts.‘
