Founded 1995: ‘Since its formation the Society has delved deep into Bach’s repertoire, hosting numerous performances of his Cantatas, Lutheran masses and instrumental works ... We give two or three full-length concerts per year, with additional recitals of Bach’s Cantatas at Exeter Cathedral and local churches ... The choir continues to stay true to its Bach tradition but frequently takes steps into the wider musical world ... In addition to choral performances, the Exeter Bach Society organises a public choral workshop, instrumental recitals and talks throughout the season, which runs from September to early June’.

'The Orchestra has its origins back in the 1930s, although what you would recognise as "ESO" started life in 1989 ... Since those early days in the 1980s, we have developed to be the leading symphony orchestra in the City. Members are involved in choosing and developing the musical programme for each year, which we hope is a balance between true classics and also more modern and perhaps lesser known pieces.'

Spectrum is Devon’s first and (as far as we know) only choir for LGBTQ+ people and their friends who enjoy singing. If you sing in the shower or at the traffic lights, come sing with us! If someone told you that you can’t sing when you were 13 then come and let us give you a second opinion! We’re an inclusive community choir, so there’s no audition and you don’t need to read music. Our aims are to have fun together, to sing uplifting songs and to build and celebrate our community.‘

'The Cathedral makes a significant contribution to music in Exeter with a regular series of concerts, recitals and other events and also hosts other visiting groups ... In recent times our music department has grown to support other choirs who provide opportunities for adult singers outside of the Cathedral Choir as well as nurturing the next generation of musicians through our successful Outreach Programme ... The main organ at Exeter Cathedral is a particularly fine example of English organ-building. In 1665 local organ builder John Loosemore created what has become one of the most distinctive and striking organ cases ever built; successive generations of organ builders have provided instruments of pedigree which have brought joy to all who have worshipped and attended performances.'
