The Choir ‘has a wide range of singing skills but most importantly everyone loves singing! At least twice a year the Choir holds a concert in Budleigh and, over the years, has raised thousands of pounds for local charities ... The Choir has over 40 members and they are always pleased to welcome new joiners. Sight reading is not essential; just bring yourself and a willingness to "give it a try"’.
Founded 1974: ‘The Choir exists to provide a stimulating and enjoyable hobby for its sixty or so members. It performs 8 to 10 concerts a year around the region, some of which are for the benefit of local and national charities’.
‘Award-winning Youth Theatre Company ... established in 1971 as the 14-20 Music and Drama Society ... The company has a membership of 60 young people aged between 11 and 21 who all perform in every production the company produces, ranging from the much loved Gilbert and Sullivan Operattas, the family favourite Rodgers and Hammerstien musical comedies to the new writers such as Howard Goodall, giving this talented company a varied balance of the musicals available to them. A busy and thorough rehearsal period allows for each member to learn valuable theatre skills as well as build their own self-esteem, confidence, self-respect, team work, a huge sense of belonging which enhances all of their performances and their own inter-personal skills.‘
‘A mixed voice choir which has grown to over 80 members. The repertoire is based around masses and oratorios ... Our concerts are usually held in Holy Trinity Church which has good acoustics for choral music, and are usually held with small orchestras and always with good soloists. We have purpose made staging for the church so that visibility is good. Members also have the opportunity to join in with social events that we hold during the year.’

Started September 2011: ‘It has grown beyond 40-strong and comprises players of all abilities and ages ... Rehearses weekly on a Friday morning ... A second orchestra rehearses on Saturday mornings in term time and has been in full swing since September 2012; it has all the players one would find in a symphony orchestra, including brass, french horns and percussion. Again we accommodate all ages and abilities. This orchestra too has grown beyond the 40-strong mark and is still expanding. In 2016, both orchestras became fully interchangeable, so now members can be flexible about which morning they come to each week or even attend both rehearsals! The musical repertoire is the same for both days with practice tracks and resources available to support the players at home between rehearsals. The ethos of the two orchestras - collectively known as “ELO” - is to have fun while learning to play better as an ensemble. The choice of music is eclectic and “light”: film scores, show music, swing, latin, folk, pop and light classical.’
Founded 1910: ‘Formerly known as Exmouth Amateur Operatic Society, EMCo have a long history of exciting and charismatic performances within the South West. EMCo pride themselves on being a fun-loving and friendly group, who enjoy the challenges and rewards of working together to the highest standards we can achieve ... EMCo work towards two large productions a year; typically a June musical and a November concert. They rehearse weekly throughout the year towards the next show’.

‘A military style wind band based in East Devon. Since its inception ... has been delighting audiences in Exmouth and beyond with their mix of marches, show tunes and modern arrangements of popular classics. The band prides itself on being entirely voluntary with members neither paying nor being paid to play. The band perform regularly in the local area at their annual formal concerts as well as a variety of more informal performances including free weekly concerts throughout the summer in Exmouth’s Pavilion Gardens and a number of events for local charities such as Exmouth RNLI’s annual Sea Sunday Service.’
Award-winning Band ‘while still known locally and affectionately as “Lymstone Band” was renamed the South West Telecoms Band to reflect the sponsorship. The Band was also fortunate to have the deconsecrated Methodist church in Lympstone acquired for them by their sponsor. The Band has benefitted hugely from having their own rehearsal and storage space, which they are pleased to share with the Training Band. The Band remain most grateful for this facility, which enables them to rehearse at will, especially pre-contest’.
