'The origins can be traced back to 8 March 1942 when Cyril Smith gave the first of 31 concerts that were held from 1942 to 1946 (with a stunning array of artists). These concerts culminated in the formation of the Ilkley Concert Club at an open meeting held in the Ilkley Playhouse on 8 April 1946 and the first concert was given by Denis Matthews on the 28 August 1946 ... and the rest is history! ...'

‘The Piano & Song section of the Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts is now held seperately from May's Speech and Drama Festival and November's Dance Championship and takes place during October each year.’

‘Ilkley’s leading chamber choir. We are a mixed voice choir, established in the 1970s. Each year the choir performs four or five concerts, of major choral works, under the expert guidance of a professional conductor, usually with invited soloists and with either keyboard/organ or orchestral accompaniment ... We welcome amateur singers from all surrounding areas.’

'The Orchestra was founded in 1988 by Stanley Evans and others, initially to provide opportunities for retired people to make music together. Stanley remained our conductor until his death in 2011. Starting with a handful of players of a very curious mix of instruments, the orchestra rapidly built up both its membership and its library of music. It now has between 40 and 50 members and a library of over 400 pieces ... As we meet mainly for pleasure, the orchestra gives very few concerts. We present a concert at the Clarke Foley Centre at Christmas and are occasionally asked to provide music for other events at the centre.'

‘A group of about 20 singers, some of whom are semi-professional and trained singers. We take our name from the little-known Victorian composer Ciro Pinsuti. Sacred and secular unaccompanied music forms the core of our performances, which are individually tailored to each venue and audience. We perform 4 - 5 concerts each year in the Wharfedale - Airedale area. We also enjoy singing at weddings and other events ... We vary in age; some of us currently work in such fields as education, medicine, various business and scientific professions and music, whilst others are retired, but equally busy.‘

'There are approximately fifty members in total with our youngest player currently being only fourteen years of age, our eldest being over 70. We are a community band and welcome players of all abilities ... Music grades are not required and we do not audition members. The only qualification you need is lots of enthusiasm for making great music.'

King's Hall and Winter Garden 'hosts a wide range of events and community provision. From a variety of professional productions including enchanting family shows, must-see music concerts and inspiring talks, to local amateur dramatic and performing arts companies, weddings, parties, lifestyle fairs and community events. It is also one of the key venues for the Summer Festival held in August every year and the hugely popular Ilkley Literature Festival'.

'St Margaret’s is well known for its excellent choral tradition. We have three choirs: St Margaret’s Choir, St Margaret’s Singers (SMS) and Cant & Dec. There is also a fine four manual William Hill Organ ... There is an organ recital on the first Friday of each month at 12.30pm ... Children and adults of all ages are involved in the musical life of the Church ... St Margaret’s Church is an ideal venue for concerts. The space at the East end of the Nave is large enough for a 100-piece choir or more, and/or a full symphony orchestra.'
