'Encourages the use and development of the Gaelic language and music through voice, choral, oral and instrumental competitions. Local residents and visitors alike are thrilled to hear the Gaelic language brought to life through ancient and modern songs and bardachd (poetry) and also the use of the language in conversation ... The Mòd is not just a competitive event it is a social gathering for all those interested in the language and music. 'Còisir Ghàidhlig an Eilein Mhuilich, the Isle of Mull Gaelic Choir, was founded in the spring of 1978, solely to compete at that year's mod when it was realised that Mull needed more representation at the National Mod ... "just for that year" ... Needless to say, it was agreed at the first Annual General Meeting that the Choir should remain in existence, and it has gone from strength to strength ...'
