‘The music we play comes from all periods including Renaissance, Baroque and 20th century, and features pieces familiar to everyone who loves string music, such as Tchaikovsky's Serenade, Handel's Concerto Grossi and Britten's Simple Symphony. We have recently accompanied soloists in several concertos, including Telemann's viola concerto, Bach and Vivaldi violin concertos, and a guitar concerto of Vivaldi. Although there are no formal concerts, the Orchestra in more recent years has put on informal recitals in the church hall to show the church members and the local community the sort of things we do. ‘Founded in 1900 when the Welsh National Eisteddfod was held in the city. A choir of 400 voices was formed and after such a successful event, the singers remained together forming the Liverpool Welsh Choral Union ... The choir currently numbers some 115 members. About one third of its membership is still of Welsh origin, but the choir has also attracted singers from all areas of Liverpool and Merseyside ... Performances regularly take place at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
