‘In the autumn of 1967, the first steps were taken to hold a midsummer festival in the medieval church of St Michael and All Angels in Lower Machen, Newport, Wales. Then, as now, Lower Machen was a rural idyll with an incomparably beautiful small church blessed with a perfect acoustic. Lower Machen has given the festival its heart and character. Small-scale chamber concerts of the highest quality have been the cornerstone of the Lower Machen Festival ... We’ve also combined the best of emerging talent with national and internationally renowned musicians. International artists have worked with young ensembles and musicians in concerts, masterclasses and educational projects to create new music.’ Festival held Mid June.

'A successful, thriving choir but to maintain this we are constantly on the look-out for new members. Could you be one of our new recruits? You would be made very welcome. Don’t miss out! If you enjoy singing quietly to yourself, then you will enjoy singing in a choir. You will make new friends that will last a lifetime, feel more connected with the wider Caldicot community and benefit from a much busier "social" life. There are also claims that singing can make you healthier and live longer! ...'

‘A 24 strong choir based in Newport, South Wales, in the UK. The main objectives of the Choir were made clear from its inception: to make high-quality music from an eclectic and innovative repertoire; a determination that continues to be shared today by all of the Choir's members. The twenty-four members of the Choir range from young singers to semi-professional and professional singers with vast choral and soloist experience. The name is taken from Caerleon's Priory, where the Choir held their first rehearsals back in 1999. Since that time the Choir has earned a reputation as one of the most polished and versatile choirs in the principality.’
