'No audition is required, but a pleasant singing voice, a good ear, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are helpful attributes if the obvious asset of reading music is lacking. Prospective members are able to join us for a few rehearsals prior to making a commitment to the Society if they so wish. Members of the choir are expected to fulfil an attendance at rehearsal requirement in order to take part in a concert. This is set at 75% and can only be varied in exceptional circumstances after consultation with the Musical Director. Our concerts are enhanced by the inclusion of excellent soloists, accompanists, instrumentalists etc. who are professional or semi-professional musicians. They always seem to enjoy their experiences with us and are keen to return.'

The building is a converted church and was purchased by the Council prior to being converted into a theatre ... Many things have changed since that opening night, such as computerised box office systems, online booking, radio microphones and intelligent lights. But what has remained ... is the vitally important part amateur groups play in the theatre’s success.
