Trafford Music Service is committed to continuing to provide high quality music making opportunities for all children and young people in Trafford. As part of Trafford Council we are proud to be working in partnership with all Trafford Primary schools and an increasing number of secondary schools. As well as high-quality music making opportunities in schools, we offer out-of-hours opportunities and progression routes through our Music Centres and Youth Orchestras. We also target support to enable access to music making for our most vulnerable families. We are delighted to be part of the Greater Manchester Music Hub and look forward to embracing the new opportunities it will bring to enhance the musical offer for all young people in our region.’

‘A mixed choir of around 70 members. The repertoire is largely traditional choral works. The Society performs four major concerts a year, in addition to others for charity ... We recognise that performing together is as important as producing a great sound. We require no audition; we want to enable people of any ability to enjoy being in a choir. Some of our members have been in the choir for many years, but there's always room for more.‘

'Has been in existence since the 1950s, when it met in the former Air Raid Wardens' Club in Sale. Though still retaining the original name, it is Trafford's only traditional male voice choir, aiming to recruit and perform throughout the Borough and in neighbouring Manchester and Cheshire. The Choir, about 24 strong, sings a wide repertoire from classics to "pop" and including madrigals, musicals, folk songs, hymns, opera choruses and film music. The members come from all walks of life and have a wide variety of previous experience. They are not stuffy about their musical knowledge, nor any lack of it! They aim to enjoy singing, to entertain audiences and to do good in the community.'

‘Formed in 1940 when most church choirs were depleted by the absence of their young men away in the Forces and several church choirs from Urmston joined together to perform “The Messiah”. Following this the performers decided to make their singing more permanent and in January 1941 the Choral Society was established. Its first performance, “Elijah”, took place that May ... The Choir has grown greatly in strength and now comprises over 60 soprano, alto, tenor and bass members who sing a wide variety of music ranging from sacred, classical, traditional and even pop!’

‘Founded in 1970 by John Coope, the Byrds set a standard for the relatively new phenomenon of semi-professional chamber choirs, bringing cathedral-choir quality to the concert platform and reviving glorious renaissance pieces as well as giving premieres of newly-commissioned contemporary works ... From time to time we have room for new singers - membership of the choir is subject to audition ... We are an, excellent, and above all, friendly choir with a long-standing reputation. Do join us, as performer or audience. We look forward to meeting you!’
