'Wurlitzer opus number 956 was dispatched from the Wurlitzer factory in North Tonawanda, USA, on the 1st December 1924. It was the first Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ to be exported to the United Kingdom. Its original home was at the Picture House cinema in Walsall. It has been installed at The Congregational Church situated in Fore Street, Beer, Devon, since 1957.'

'The full Ensemble comprises of over 60 experienced amateur and some former professional players drawn from the South West of England. The orchestra rehearses in the centre of Exeter on Sunday afternoons leading to the presentation of a series of classical concerts each year. National and international soloists often feature in concerts that frequently take place in Sidmouth Parish Church, Devon. This beautifully renovated church near the famous Victorian seafront has fine acoustics and accommodates a large audience.'

'Previously the building was an under used and rundown Town Hall owned by East Devon District Council. It annually lost in excess of £30,000 per year and as such was at great risk of being sold. A community group (Seatons Voice) formed and generated a plan to lease out the building and hold events to cover the running costs. Roll on 6 years, lots of hard work and over 60 active volunteers the building has been transformed into a vibrant entertainment and much used community facility ...'
