‘The friendliest choir in Solihull ... We formed in 1952 when a group of singers met on a Sunday evening to sing together for their own enjoyment and for the enjoyment of others ... We are passionate about singing and have a repertoire which is ever-changing to meet members’ and audience’s tastes. Don’t let our longevity fool you: we sing equal quantities of current popular music, together with a few old favourites.’

‘Our year runs from September to July, with short breaks for Christmas and Easter. We have an open door policy to new members, young and not so young, who are always welcome - there are no auditions. All we ask for is a love of singing and choral music, enthusiasm and commitment to our rehearsals and performances. Our musical director ... sets high and stretching musical standards, but also very much believes in keeping the fun in music making. Absolutely anybody has the opportunity to come along to give us a trial.’

'A welcoming and friendly group that enjoys taking on the challenge of a lively and varied repertoire. Our members span an age range from under 18 to over 80. The orchestra began life as an evening class in Solihull, moving to its independent status in 1990 ... Since 2004, Solihull Syphony Orchestra has organised an annual Rising Stars programme each spring. The programme allows a small number of talented young local musicians the opportunity to perform a movement from a concerto, an aria, a song cycle or something similar with a full orchestra - usually for the first time. The performance is not a competition - it is an informal family affair and always attracts a large audience of family, friends and regular concert goers. It is open to all musicians of school age living or studying in or very near Solihull.'
