Founded 1947: ‘The aim of the Singers has been, from the beginning, up to the present time, to foster the study, enjoyment and public performance of choral music in south Lincolnshire. It has been successful in that it has been able to perform to a high standard thus attracting an average number of 60 singing members which has risen to 80 in the last few years ... Friends of South Holland Singers are much valued as members of the choir. For a variety of reasons, Friends need not be singers themselves, but all Friends have an interest in Choral music, in supporting the Choir both practically and financially and in furthering the appreciation and enjoyment of music’.

‘Came into being in September 2008. Initially the group consisted of 18 absolute beginners, who owned 11 ukuleles between them, none of which had been tuned, let alone played! The group has evolved and improved continuously ... and currently [2016] has 70 members aged between 10 and 83, most of whom now have at least 2 ukuleles each. We play for a wide range of audiences in an equally wide range of venues, performing a repertoire of over 200 songs. The Ukulele Orchestra of Spalding plays for its own, and the audience’s enjoyment; we also manage to raise at least £2,000 each year for local charities, all of which comes from audience donations. We do not charge a fee to perform.’
