'One of the largest in the UK, offering a very broad and diverse range of courses, all taught by expert scholars ... Our courses literally span the world, from European classical, popular and folk traditions to music from across Asia and the Americas. We study music across a thousand years of history but also explore the changing nature of music in the contemporary world. Through performance, composition and academic study, we’ll challenge you to think about what music is today and why it matters.'

'For many years a yearly concert has featured promising young performers, namely the Young Performers Platform, providing a platform for aspiring local musicians and encouraging them and their parents to join as members. In 1995 the club invested in a modern Steinway grand piano reflecting its confidence in the club’s future. There have been many outstanding local personalities involved in building the club over the years and many international artists have performed at celebrity concerts and club evenings.'

‘Formed in 2005, we are a mainly modern instrument Baroque ensemble, although many of our string players have Baroque bows. We aim for an “authentic” playing style, and we do sometimes tune down a semitone to Baroque pitch - for example when we have music for strings only, or when Baroque wind instruments are available. We generally play music from about 1600-1785, from late Renaissance pieces at one end to early Classical at the other, including music by Haydn & Mozart. In most concerts we perform trio sonatas or other smaller scale works as well as concertos and sinfonias, and from time to time include vocal and choral music, to provide our audiences - and players - with plenty of variety. Many of our players play to concerto standard, so we do not normally employ paid soloists from outside the ensemble.’

‘A friendly brass band based in Egham with a history stretching back to over 100 years. We have strong links with the local community and annually take part in the St George's Day and Remembrance Day Parades and Services, plus appear at local carnivals and events. We also give regular concerts ... The band has a strong youth policy with a 20 strong Youth Band of children between 10 and 16. Formed in September 2010 the band has been a great success performing both with the senior band and giving concerts on their own. A new Training Band for children from Year 4 of primary school age and with some very basic musical knowledge commenced in Spring 2016.‘

'We are a long standing choir based in Egham since the 1970s. We perform at least three concerts a year. The spring concert is usually the highlight of our year ... and the performance is usually distinguished by the addition of professional soloists and musicians. Our summer concert comprises lighter works that may include madrigals or jazz standards. For our Christmas programme we look forward to singing carols and other seasonal music.'

‘A small and enthusiastic group of amateur singers from Egham, Staines and London. We put on 3 concerts a year, and have fun singing to a high standard ... The choir was founded as the West London Vocal Ensemble in 1995 ... It was conceived as, and intends to remain, a small chamber choir, where each voice makes an essential contribution to the overall sound. From the outset, the choir performed a wide repertoire of popular and classical music, ancient and modern, accompanied and unaccompanied.’

‘A Barbershop Harmony singing group based in the Staines and Hampton areas ... We mostly sing music written up to the 1970's as those type of “tuneful” songs suit our style of singing. Our songs include popular music, show music and vaudeville music but we also do some comedy numbers and the odd sea shanty too! At Christmas we can also be heard singing the odd Christmas carol.‘
