‘A group of orchestral brass musicians mainly based in the Sutton Coldfield area of Birmingham. We are rapidly gaining a reputation for the variety and quality of our performances. We mainly appear in the 10 piece format made popular by the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and subsequently London Brass, though we have been known to appear with as many as 25 performers on stage! We aim to make our music as approachable and enjoyable as possible, but we always try to introduce our audiences to less well known or new music.’

‘The RSCO, founded in 1975, performs up to six concerts per year, including a young soloists concert ... The RSCO has approximately 50 members and performs across the Sutton Coldfield district under professional, guest conductors. Repertoire is very wide-ranging, and we often use extra players for larger works. We also have a thriving Youth Orchestra which caters for 8-16 year olds, and parts are adapted to suit the player. They perform regularly in their own right, but we also arrange an annual children's concert where members of both orchestras perform together.’

‘A group of four choirs: A Training Choir, the Four Oaks Cluster Choir, Sutton Coldfield Youth Voices and The Accidentals. They cater for singers from 6 to 90, and perform regularly in the West Midlands and beyond. We teach a wide variety of repertoire as well as musicianship, which includes: good diction, listening, intonation, breathing, dynamics and musicality ... All choirs take singing seriously, but have lots of fun in rehearsals - and of course, love to perform!‘ The Cluster Choir is the main children’s choir for boys and girls aged 9-13 years, competing successfully at events throughout the UK.

'Although the choir has been in existence for over 40 years, the history of choral singing in the town goes back much further to 1902 when a choir gave a concert at Blackroot, in Sutton Park, to celebrate the Coronation of King Edward VII. We are a mixed voice choir of approximately 55 members and perform works from a Sacred and Secular repertoire in two concerts each year. These are usually in May and December.'

‘SCMTC has been entertaining the Midlands since 1933 - why not come and see our next show? ... Join Us? No one particularly likes to audition - that's a well known fact. But all we require to give you membership status is a short audition including a bit of script reading, and to provide you with a chance to show us your singing style and range, with a song of your choice.’
