'Professional artists introduce and perform from a classical and contemporary chamber music repertoire, bringing together both well and less known works and composers. Six concerts are held annually ... in an informal and friendly atmosphere. Our artists not only entertain with well-known works, they also educate and inform with works that are seldom heard and that step outside the normal spectrum of work our members are used to hearing.'

'We are a mixed adult choir of around 20 voices performing in the Newport, Shropshire area and beyond. We love to encourage others to enjoy taking part, explore repertoire and improve their singing! Members come from a wide geographical area and a range of backgrounds and age ranges. We are an experienced choir with several long serving singers, but also many newer singers too. We sing to create beautiful music and for our own enjoyment. Our repertoire is broad, from sacred classical works to popular music arrangements.'

'The first concert was upstairs in the pub at Blists Hill Museum, Ironbridge, on the 17th October 1985 ... The Quire continues to rehearse once a month and do as many concerts as possible throughout the year, mostly in churches incorporating information about John Moore and his place in west gallery style of music in Shropshire and throughout the country. The Quire remains a costumed Quire with a village band adding authenticity to performances.'

'Founded in the dark days of 1943 by William Wilde, the Organist and Choirmaster at St Nicholas Parish Church ... For many years our choir used to participate in competitions, and enjoyed much competitive success. Our greatest competitive achievement was coming second at the highly prestigious Llangollen International Festival in 1954 ... The Choir now concentrates on concert performances, and in a normal year gives several charity concerts in local churches and halls. Many thousands of pounds have been raised for worthy causes.'

Founded 1862: ‘We are a friendly, vibrant amateur orchestra. We meet every Monday evening 7.30-9.30pm and perform locally 2-3 times a year. If you would like to join us you would be very welcome ... We have tried to find an older continous amateur orchestra – so far without success. There are older choral societies, and both the Hallé and the Royal Liverpool professional orchestras are a few years older. There are also amateur orchestras formed before ours which have been disbanded and reformed, but at the moment we claim to be the oldest continous amateur orchestra in the country. If you think otherwise, let us know!‘

‘The Madeley & District Male Voice Choir was formed over thirty years ago. The name was changed to the Telfordaires when the chorus joined the British Association of Barbershop Singers, (BABS). Now well known throughout the region for their dynamic performances, the chorus also has a reputation for entertainment amongst other barbershop choruses. We focus on the singing of four part harmony in the barbershop style, straight from the heart.’
