'The aim of the Society is to present on excellent sound equipment a broad range of classical music on compact disc, selected from the whole of the recording era, circa 1900 to the present day. Programmes include a wide variety of orchestral, chamber, instrumental and vocal music, chosen and presented by members and by visiting specialists, giving background about the music or performers ... Visitors are very welcome at any of our meetings. Whether you come with a friend or alone, you will find the atmosphere friendly and welcoming.'
Founded 1956: ‘Friendship was one of the core reasons the Festival came into being; that, plus a belief on the part of the founders that sacred music is at the very heart of the liturgy (a form and arrangement of public worship laid down by a church or religion) – and the need to fundraise for a new Church roof ... The festival has flourished, and today it lasts for eight days at the end of August, from Compline by candlelight on the Sunday evening, to Eucharist on the following Sunday morning of the Bank Holiday weekend’.
‘WRMS is a music charity supporting and enabling local communities and individuals to realise their music making ambitions and initiatives. Our particular focus is our “Music on your Doorstep” rural outreach programme which aims to widen participation in music through high quality workshops and activities ... Our goal is to enable music-making of any shape or form across the county, particularly in village communities.’

Founded 1859: ‘The Main Band is a busy and sociable band for confident players ... We play at a large number of events throughout the year. We usually enter at least two contests per year ... The Training Band works along side the Main Band with the specific aim of developing players hopefully towards progressing into the Main Band and therefore securing the future of the organisation. Both adults and children are welcome ... We perform a number of times per year at local events such as fetes and concerts’.
www.cantamuschamberchoir.co.uk
Founded 1994 and based in Bradford-on-Avon: ‘The choir's repertoire is drawn from both the classical and jazz traditions and it regularly champions new music ... The choir has built a reputation for its skill in delivering challenging but hugely rewarding programmes. Cantamus actively collaborates with a variety of soloists, ensembles and composers, both professional and amateur, which has resulted in some memorable performances’.
‘A symphonic wind band with a broad repertoire ... performing a wide range of music including classical, swing, medleys from films and shows and pop hits ... We have around 50 active players of all ages and abilities ... Whether you are an experienced player, looking to get back into music or want to join your first band, give us a call.‘
'This Site is dedicated to two English music sessions that run on alternate weeks in Bath and Bradford on Avon. On this site we want to tell you about the sessions and what to expect at them. We also want to tell you about the music we play and provide resources for people who want to know more ... It’s amazing how little the English know about their own music and dance. We have a rich tradition of music and song that’s the equal of anywhere else in Europe, but you wouldn’t know that from listening to the English media! Catch the Irish or the Scots doing that!'
‘Opera at Iford is staged in-the-round and sung in English for an audience of ninety. Performances take place in the miniature Italianate cloister within The Harold Peto Gardens of Iford Manor six miles from Bath ... The Iford Arts – New Generation Artists programme is an exciting and valuable opportunity for young artists to take advantage of the performance opportunities on offer at Iford. Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals, we have tailor-made aspects of the programme to suit the individual needs of the artist. It gives all its artists the opportunity to hone their craft in a secure, yet stimulating environment ... Children from some of the most deprived schools in Wiltshire will come together this summer, to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch, write and take part in an opera ...’
'A welcoming and friendly symphony orchestra, made up of amateur musicians from all parts of the county and neighbouring areas. The orchestra was founded in 1966 in Marlborough and has been performing continuously ever since. We rehearse in Devizes, and have three concerts a year in St Andrews’ Church in Chippenham.'
